Ofloxacin is a Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic is thought to exert a bactericidal effect on susceptible microorganisms by inhibiting critical catalyst in the duplication, transcription, and repair of bacterial DNA. Ornidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole derivative used in the treatment of susceptible Protozoal Infections and also in Anaerobic Bacterial Infections. Ornidazole acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis and degrades existing DNA.

Indication:
Polymicrobial Mixed Infection like Diarrhoea & Dysentery, Dental Carries & Periodontitis, Surgical Wound Infection, PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) and Trichomoniasis.
Drug Composition:
Ornidazole 500 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg per tablet.
Dosage:
Generally 1 tablet BID
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the quinolone group or the nitroimidazole group of compounds and in those patients with a history of blood dyscrasias. Severe hepatic failure.
Precautions:
Renal and hepatic impairment. Blood disorders: Leukocyte counts should be checked before and after start of therapy (especially in repeat therapy), in patients with history of blood disorders.
