Ethacid
Etamsylate acts on the first step of hemostasis by improving platelet adhesiveness and restoring capillary resistance. It prevents the break down of the capillary wall by its anti-hyaluronidase activity and inhibits prostacycline synthetase which is a powerful vasodilator. It also augments fibrin formation by increasing the generation of thromboplastin and helps in stable fibrin clot formation.

Indication:
Menorrhahagia, Metrorrhagia, DUB, Post-Partum Haemorrhage, IUCD induced menorrhagia, bleeding haemorrhoids, Epistaxis, Prostatic surgery, tooth extraction, Tonsillectomy.
Drug Composition:
Each uncoated tablet contains 250 mg & 500 mg etamsylate
Injection ampoule: Each 2ml ampoule contains 250 mg Etamsylate.
Dosage:
1 Tablet TID and 250-500 mg I.M / I.V every 4-6 Hourly till bleeding Persist.
Contraindications:
Pregnancy, hypersensitivity and porphyria (a blood disorder).
Precautions:
Patients with history of coeliac disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
