Lama
Abnormal concentration of minerals like calcium may sometimes make the heart overactive or create resistance in blood flow, which might then lead to an increase in blood pressure. In such cases doctors use calcium channel blockers like Lama that contains Amlodipine, a drug that inhibits the calcium accumulation in the heart and helps in reducing blood pressure.
Calcium channel blocker, amlodipine acts by relaxing the smooth muscle in the arterial wall, decreasing peripheral resistance (PVR) and hence reducing blood pressure; in angina it increases blood flow to the heart muscle.

Indication:
Hypertension, Systolic Hypertension, Prophylaxis of Angina in middle aged to elderly patients.
Drug Composition:
Available as 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg per tablet.
Dosage:
O.D.
Contraindications:
Unstable angina, severe hypotension.
Pregnancy.
Lactation.
Precautions:
Impaired hepatic function. Within 1 month of MI. hypertensive crisis.
