Etamsylate acts on the first step of hemostasis by improving platelet adhesiveness and restoring capillary resistance. It prevents the break down of the capillary wall by its anti-hyaluronidase activity and inhibits prostacycline synthetase which is a powerful vasodilator. It also augments fibrin formation by increasing the generation of thromboplastin and helps in stable fibrin clot formation.
